We just went snorkeling and it was made of pure awesomeness.
I couldn’t really breathe for the first round of snorkeling so I was gasping for breathe and felt totally exhausted despite swimming very little. Despite that, the view at the coral reef was breath-taking. It’s just like that Jacques Cousteau guy’s documentaries on marine life! And I could touch some of them too! (I was a bit apprehensive of some of the brightly colored creatures I saw because in the marine world, bright colors screams: “touch me and you die”) The coral reef was really beautiful. It was worth every dong of the 300,000+ to be there. I got more comfortable for the 2nd and 3rd swim as I got the hang of it, took longer breaths and stopped breathing through my nose completely. It was so fun. I had many cuts from the coral reefs though because I was a bit careless. My back was sun-burnt too so I am quite lazy today (day 5). Despite all those, it was a wonderful excursion. The ridges and the trenches are just beautiful. I wished I had taken my underwater camera with me to document some of the mesmerizing creatures I saw. There were fishes of different colors: pink, blue, purple, orange, yellow etc etc; many sea urchins (some of which were caught and sold by the boat captain for 30000 VND each – It didn’t taste very good); sea anemones (which Elyce often got confused with sea urchin); corals; sea snake; weird underwater plants and other things. I was imagining myself to be one of Cousteau divers who dived and filmed the documentaries which was really fun. He’s my grandmother’s hero and I grew up under her care so I spent tons of time watching and re-watching those documentaries! He’s so awesome! I’m definitely going to snorkel again!
I cut my toe after snorkeling so I can’t swim now. Thus I’m chilling at Star Beach now. It’s quite a nice beach. We took some pictures and just chilled while a guy from our tour group went jetski! it looked very fun but I was pretty worn out so I didn’t try.
We were then taken to the pearl farm which was meant to lure us into buying some of the products there but no one caught the bait.
It rained when we got back so we didn’t go to the night market but we went to chez carole instead. Elyce and I shared ginger chicken and shrimp with tamarine sauce. not the best chicken and shrimp I’ve had but it was nice nevertheless. Dessert was awesome though with Coupe Carole. Ice-cream in a watermelon fruit. There were banana, pineapple and watermelon pieces in strawberry ice-cream. It was so tasty.
after the meal we went back to elyce’s room and watched glee then I went back to my place.
